Set of (2) Mini Masks. See size below. Tightly woven, natural dyes. Simply perfect for a coffee table, book shelf, or small wall. Encased in a shadow box, would be stunning.

The Embera and Wounaan tribes once solely resided in the dense rainforest in an area known as the Darien Gap.

Not so long ago these forest people, relied solely on the land and rivers that surrounded their stilt huts, for their every need. Today, deforestation, farming and outsiders encroaching on their forest existence has changed their way of life.

Rising up to the challenges of a modern lifestyle, the artisans have maintained and in some cases combined modern conveniences with traditional cultural skills to create works of art, sought after by collectors around the world.

These are mini variation of cultural masks that were traditionally used by the village jaibana (shaman). Though ritual practices still continue, the forest lifestyle is quickly changing just like their cultural art. These masks are truly a treasure of history and culture.
